My class size saga.

Last Friday I had 18 students on my class list. I procrastinated labeling, although I printed 40 sets of labels over the weekend and made 20 copies of everything. Monday morning I get to school and my class size was up to 21 so I printed  a sheet of new student A,B and C. I started to label my classroom. That afternoon one student moved schools. Tuesday I gained another student so I printed off student D labels and replaced student C with D. Wednesday no change. I feel confident I'm ready for open house Thursday. Thursday I get new student E making it 22. I frantically print off labels so she has a locker and a seat for open house. Today one drops I am down to 21. I wonder what Monday will bring??????? On a side note.  My third grader is soooooooo excited for Monday, she may drive me absolutely bonkers. Happy first day of school everyone!!!! (whenever that may be)

Well that'll make ya feel old.

So today I met one of the new building paras.  She says don't I know you from daycare?  (meaning the one I worked at 12 years ago)  At this point I am racking my brain, did I work with her, was she a nurse at the facility?  And then she says..........................yeah, I think you worked there when I went there as a child.  Turns out she was wrong BUT that'll make you feel old.  Last year I was the youngest staff member at my building.  This year there are 3 younger than me (way younger).  Which I love but yeah........I'm not that old!!!!! :)

More great back to school advice for families!!

Do you know where your hairbrush is?

Today was my first day of 8:00 meetings which means kiddos have to leave the house with hubby around 7:30.  Today's snafu?  Where is the hairbrush or A hairbrush?  Anything?  A flimsy comb will not do, I have thick hair and I have 2 daughters with long thick hair.  I also have to actually blow dry and comb my hair.  In anticipation of this snafu (does anyone else have this problem?)  I bought another hairbrush.  I wonder how many it would take before I could keep a least one in the bathroom where it belongs.  I found it in J's (age 3) bed tangled up with the covers.  Apparently she slept with it last night.  Right there would be a good reason to make the beds. Tonight's must do list: find hairbrush make name labels for 21st student in my class locate extra kid stool and put by the door to be returned to school tomorrow

Little dots, who knew?

My new favorite blog is  Kindergarten Crayons .  Because of Fran, my 3 year old picked up this book (sort of, I was too excited to make the book) and read.  (I was also too excited to put pants on her.)  Here is a video of J reading!

Have you met flylady yet?

I've been trying to fly for awhile, although it is very hard during the school year.  This year I am delegating to my third grader (OMG, I HAVE A THIRD GRADER, WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN!)  Anyway, it is time for her to really clean her own room, and since she shares with her 3 year old sister.  I have crowned her manager of her room and she allowed to delegate to her.  To get a copy of the student back to school control journal click  here.
